289 - The mission of twelve

Kathleen's thoughts

Matthew 9: 35-38, 10: 1-42, 11:1, 14: 1-12
Mark 6: 7-29
Luke 9: 3-9
Death of John the Baptist AD 27

Jesus sends out the twelve disciple Then He said to His disciples, The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.
These are the names of the 12 apostles;
1First, Simon, who is called Peter,
and
2.Andrew his brother;
3. James the son of Zebedee,
and
4.John his brother;
5. Philip and
6. Bartholomew;
7. Thomas and
8. Matthew the tax collector;
9. James the son of Alphaeus, and
10. Thaddeus;
11. Simon the Zealot and
12.Judas Iscariot who also betrayed Him

Jesus' instructions to the disciples Jesus sent out these 12 after giving them instructions;
Don't take the road leading to other nations, and don't enter any Samaritan town. Instead, go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
take nothing for the road, He told them, no walking stick, no travelling bag, no bread, no money; and don't take an extra shirt. Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there. If they do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them..

The persecution of the disciples Don't fear those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul; rather, fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Arn't two sparrows sold for a penny/ Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father's consent. But even the hairs foyer head have all been counted. Don't be afraid therefore; you are worth more than many sparrows.'
Therefore, everyone who will acknowledged Me before men, I will also acknowledge him before My father in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father in heaven.

The cost and rewards of discipleship The person who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; the person who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And whoever doesn't take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me. Anyone finding his life will lose it, and anyone losing his life because of Me will find it.
The one who welcomes you welcomes Me, and the one who welcomes Me welcomes Hm who sent Me.

Death of John the Baptist Because of Herod's  oath to his daughter who asked for John's head and so Herod the tetrarch orders were.... John was beheaded in prison, brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the girl, Then the girl gave it to her mother. When his disciples heard about it, they became and removed his corpse and placed it in a tomb.

I am able to do all things through Him who strengthens me Phil 4: 13

Blessings
Kathleen.
