256 - Rebuilding programme begins.

Kathleen's thoughts

Ezra 3: 1-13
Psalm 87: 1-7, 84: 1-12, 66: 1-20,107: 1-43

Exiles rebuild the altar By the seventh month, the Israelites had settled in their towns, and the people gathered together in Jerusalem.

In praise of Jerusalem His foundation is on the holy mountains. The Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob. Glorious things are said about you, city of God.

Rebuilding of the Temple begins

The priests and Levites praise the Lord When the builders had laid the foundation of the Lord's temple, the priests, dressed in their robes and holding trumpets, and the Levites descended from Asaph, holding cymbals, took their position to praise the Lord, as King David of Israel had instructed. They sang with praise and thanks giving to the Lord; For He is good; His faithful love to Israel endures forever. Then all the people gave a great shout of praise to the Lord because the foundation of the Lord's house had been laid.

Longing for God's house I would rather be at the door of the house of my God than to live in the tents of the wicked.
He does not withhold the good from those who live with integrity.

In praise of God's goodness
A song of praise and thanksgiving. Come and listen, all who fear God, and I will tell what He has done for e. I cried out to Him with my mouth, and praise was on my tongue. If I had been aware of malice in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. However, God has listened; He has paid attention to the sound of my prayer. May God be praised! He has not turned away my prayer or turned His faithful love from me.

For thought and contemplation  This is very important to do each day.
The first thing the children of Israel did when they returned to Jerusalem was to build an altar. Worship, they realised, must come before work. Make a list of the things you have to do today, and before you do them, commit each item to God. You will find life runs better this way.
Come let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, the sheep under His care... Psalm 95: 6-7

Blessings
Kathleen.
