When you look at the headings of these proverbs one can see life's guidelines and each guideline teaches us to walk in righteousness but also shows us the destruction of disobedience  to God's word.

15: 32 Anyone who ignores instruction despises himself, but whoever listens to correction acquires good sense.
33. The fear of the Lord is wisdom's instruction, and humility comes before honour.

So God gives us the instruction by saying in 16: 3 Commit your activities to the Lord and your plans will be achieved.
The refiners fire...16:16 Acquire wisdom - how much better it is than gold! And acquire understanding - it is preferable to silver.

And remember this 18: 2 A fool does not delight in understanding but only wants to show off his opinions.

17: 3 A crucible is for silver and a smelter for gold, but the Lord is a tester of hearts.

Blessings
Kathleen.
