133 - King Solomon

Kathleen's thoughts

1 Kings 2:12 - 38, 3: 1-4
1 Chronicles 29: 23 - 25
2 Chronicles1:13

Solomon sat on the Lord's throne as king in place of his father David.  An interesting verse stating Solomon sat on the Lord's throne! The Lord highly exalted Solomon in the sight of all Israel and bestowed on him such royal majesty as had not been bestowed on any king over Israel before him.

1  Kings 2: 13-15 Adonijah is put to death.
1 Kings 2: 28 - 34 Joab is put to death.
1 Kings 2: 26 -27 Abiathar the priest is banished
These men suffered the consequence of their unfaithfulness towards King David.

Solomon marries an Egyptian woman and brought her to the city of David until he finished building is palace, the Lord's temple and the wall surrounding Jerusalem.

Psalm 45: 1-17 A royal wedding song.

Solomon love for the Lord was great by walking in His statues but he also sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.

The Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream at night and God asked him "What should I give you?"
Solomon's reply was "Lord my God, you have now made Your servant king in my father David's place. Yet I am just a youth with no experience in leadership. Your servant is among Your people You have chosen, a people too numerous to be numbered or counted. So give Your servant an obedient heart to judge Your people and to discern between good and evil. for who is able to judge this great people of Yours?" What a beautiful request and because of this God gave him wisdom and along side all that riches because of his desire to serve the people of Israel with wisdom and respect. And because of this the Lord blessed him beyond measure.

Blessings
Kathleen.
