Judges 10,11,13,14
Samuel 1

Judges 13 Samson was born and he grew and the Lord blessed him. The spirit of the Lord began to direct him in the camp of Dan.

Juges 11 Jephthah the Gileadite was a great warrior but he was the son of a prostitute and Gilead was his father. Gilead's wife bore him sons and they grew and drove Jephthah out of the family and told him he would not have an inheritance from his father's house.

1 Samuel 1: 1-8 Elkanan don of Jeroham, son of Elihu, son of Tohu, son of Zuph, and Ephraimite he had 2 wives Hannah and Peninnah. Pininnah was blessed with children but Hannah was barren.
Hannah went before the Lord in prayer and asked for children and while she was praying in the presence of the Lord. Eli the priest was watching her lips and thought she was under the influence of alcohol and when he approached her with the accusations she said :No, my lord," "I am a woman with a broken heart. I haven't had an;y wine, I've been pouring out my heart before the Lord. Don't think of me as a wicked woman; I've been praying from the depth of my anguish and resentment. Then Eli said to go in peace and may the Lord grant you your desires. From then on Hannah did not feel down cast.
Hannah conceived and bore Elkanan a son and they named him Samuel. Hannah also promised to return the child to the Lord once he was weaned from her and this she did.

Israel once again began to worship Baal and sin-ed against the Lord. The Lord grows weary of Israel's sin. Judges 13: 1 The Israelites again did what was evil in the Lord's sight, so the Lord handed them over to the Philistines for 40 years.

Judges 14 Samson desires a Philistine wife. His parents are at a loss for this request and tries to persuade Samson to take a wife from his own tribe but Samson insists. Judges 14: 4 Now his father and mother did not know this was from the Lord, who was seeking an occasion against the Philistines. At that time the Philistines were ruling over Israel.

Here we see God's plan at work to free the Israelites.

Judges 14: 10-14 is Samson's riddle for the Philistines to work out after three days, and they were unable to do so.

Blessings
Kathleen.
