109 - David becomes king.

Kathleen's thoughts

2 Samuel 1,2,3,4
1 Chronicles 8: 29-40, 29: 27, 3: 1-4

Mephibosheth's son of Jonathan who's feet were crippled and his nurse picked him up and fled when she heard the news of the death of Saul and Jonathan and while doing this the nurse dropped him and he became lame.

David hears of Saul and Jonathan's death from a man that claims to have killed Saul by his sword because of his injuries and brought Saul's crown that was on his head and the armband that was on his arm. David was deeply mourned by their deaths and then David questioned this man "How is it that you were not afraid to lift your hand to destroy the Lord's anointed?" Then David summoned one of his servants and struck him and he died.

David sings a lament for Saul and his son Jonathan. 2 Samuel 1: 17-27. David mourned deeply for Jonathan as he loved him so.

1 Chronicles 8: : 35-44, 9: 35-44 is Saul's descendants

David becomes king.
2 Samuel:5:4 1 Kings 2:11 & 1 Chronicles 29:27
David was 3o years old when he began his reign and he reigned seven years in Hebron and 33 years in Jerusalem.

David blesses the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul.

Ish-bosheth was made king of Israel and he ruled over Gilead, Asher, Jezreel, Ephraim, Benjamin over all Israel. he was 40 years old and he ruled for two years. The house of Judah followed David and over a period of time David's army became very strong in numbers and strength,

2 Samuel 3: 2-5 and 1 Chronicles 3: 1-4 are the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron.

From reading today's word one can see the compassion David had for his people and his king Saul and his son Jonathan. One can also see that God was with him in all ways.

Blessings
Kathleen.
