71 - Regulations for the Israelites

Kathleen's thoughts.

Deut 21,22,23,25

Interesting read and yet quite daunting.

21: 15-17 This is about the first born. The man must acknowledge his firstborn by giving a double portion of everything that belongs to him.

21: 22-23 Hanging on a tree. 23) You are not to leave his corpse on the tree over night but are to bury him that day. One can read this in Luke 23 where they took down Jesus from the cross as it was the closing of the day and going into the sabbath.

25; Punishment with lashes. He may be flogged with 40 lashes but NO more otherwise if he is flogged with more lashes than these your brother will be degraded your sight.

25: Do not muzzle a ox while he treads out grain.

25; 5-12 About marriage of a brothers wife this thought is overwhelming for me. For i my husband ides I would have to go to his brother as his wife. This messes with my head. But the Lord has his reasons.

22; The second time the tassels of the 4 corners of the outer garment is mentioned.

23; God gives instructions that the Israelites are NOT to despise the Egyptians because they were foreign residents in their land.

23; 13-14 This brought back memories of us in the out back with the digging tool - We are thinking about the animals here but God says this. 13. And you shall have a paddle or shovel among your weapons, and when you sit down outside (to relieve yourself) you shall dig a hole with it and turn back and cover up what has come from you. 14 For the LORD YOUR GOD WALKS IN THE MIDST OF YOUR CAMP TO DELIVER YOU AND TO GIVE UP YOUR ENEMIES BEFORE YOU. THEREFORE SHALL YOUR CAMP BE HOLY, THAT HE MAY SEE NOTHING INDECENT AMONG YOU AND TURN AWAY FROM YOU.

Deut 23 About leaving grain after harvest and not picking it all so that the poor can come and gather. It's a interesting read and it reminds me of Ruth gathering for her and her mother-in-law

Deut 22 speaks about woman dressing up in mans clothing they must NOT!

Deut 23 Making a vow and keeping to it.

James 1:5 Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him.

Blessings
Kathleen.
